Cable News in 2011 review

2011 cable news TV
The year 2011 is now heading out the door   , we take a look back at what the cable news media was like this year.
Over Coverage of  Casey Anthony   Not, saying that we think the media shouldn't have covered it  in  heavy excess. HLN (Formally Headline news until 2008) , a CNN sister network, had extensive trail coverage during the trail and coverage of the trail itself. It was LIVE brodacasting on weekends , when they never do it on a normal weekend ,  no matter what breaking news happens. Some could say it was do to the slow news time of summer , but there is a way the cable news channels could have covered it.

Lean Left and Lean Right  Cable news is slowly loosing the news part of the term. MSNBC (owned by NBC NEWS) suffered a small blow to it's line up when Keith Olbermann left , but since 2008  the channel was adding more and more liberal opinion , they say is a counter to a Conservative FOXNEWS Channel . Though unlike FOX NEWS Channel , MSNBC has more opinion programming , as of December 2011  on weekdays they have a total of  6 hours of news with out opinion , though 2 of those hours are more devoted to politics FOX NEWS Channel's primetime stayed at number one, and MSNBC faulting but still taking second. This hurt CNN who trying to stay out of the left /right show thing.
2012 elections are sure to bring more of this out , and opinion shows aren't leaving because people are watching them. Some network executives have said that people aren't turning to cable news for news anymore, they already know the news.

International Affairs   Protests were everywhere this year, as this became important the American cable news, and Broadcast networks saw fit to send reporters and anchors to Eygpt (until it got dangerous )  and Libya as the people were toppling the governments that have been around for over 30 years.  The cable news did do a great job at covering what they could. CNN , which has international resources , did have the best advantage.
Royal Wedding    Maybe,  they were bored or just like the UK , but the wedding of Britain's Prince William  to Kate Middleton on April 29th , made the cable news very happy sending correspondents and anchors to cover the events. FOX NEWS Channel for the week leading and the day itself aired it's sister network ,SKY NEWS, from the UK  from 1AMET/10PM PT. The wedding coverage was more than just the wedding it was  the clothes , the food, the guest s and more. All that for a wedding  that's not in the US.
Japan Disaster   March 11th , Japan has an earthquake that later causes a tsunami  and then  a nuclear disaster from power outages in Japan. This caused the cable news media to cover it extensively as new information came out each day and the dangers came in notice. Many channels did have reporters there until they had to leave out of safety concerns.
Election 2012 (2011 edition)  Because 2011 wasn't good enough for the cable news to fill their 24 hours (really 16 to 19 hours) , they needed to cover the who's running and who's leading in polls for the Presidential elections.  We don't know what's worse? That the media uses polls and not cover all candidates running (there were  10 GOP candidates). That the media was tricked ,and still is, that is Donald Trump is running for president (which he won't).  We say the point is they were bored and need to fill those 24   around 16-19 hours live with something.
Things the Cable media won't have to do any more (we hope)  Figure out how to spell Qaddafi, the now dead Libyan former leader was cable news' bane in spelling lessons. Osama stock footage they can finally put that away.
