CBS announced Sunday, that their Sunday morning political affairs program "Face The Nation" will be changing to a full hour in spring 2012. The program has been 30 minutes since it started in 1954 , the 2nd oldest Sunday talk show has been the only show not to be expanded or start at 1 hour in length. Currently hosted by Bob Schieffer , who started about 20 years ago, it's ratings have been going up beating ABC'S "This Week"and coming near the leader "Meet The Press".
It will be trying out for 20-weeks in the next year, CBS has concerns with affiliate's time slots and they are not looking to cut "Sunday Morning"to an hour from it's current 90 minutes. This shows more of CBS NEWS' focus hard news since Jeff Fager took over . this year. And CBS To launch a hard news weekday morning show next month.
