The CW   Fall TV Look 2024  Upfronts

The CW's uncharted new world continues. Only two pre-Nexstar purchase series are on the line up in the fall, those include the final season of Superman & Lois and Whose Line Is It Anyway?.   All American, Walker, and Wild Cards are currently missing from the line up. "Wild Cards" is hoped to be picked up by the network, whilst "Walker" and "All American" are waiting over costs.   Family Law is also to be determined - it was renewed by home network, Global, in Canada in January.  Penn and Telller: Fool US has also not been officially renewed either.   Lots of uncertainty on that part of the CW.

The network is getting into game shows with a Monday night block based off two board games  with Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.  The great WWE shift around continues, the CW rejoins working with it by having the program WWE NXT , which is moving from USA network, air on Tuesday Nights there.

In speaking of sports, the network has been getting rights to as much as they can.  They've picked up Pac-12 Football games, along with continuing ACC Football, NASCAR Xfintiy Series is also coming to the network.   Saturday Night, much like the other networks, will be sports night.

The scripted programming on the line up will  be on Wednesday and Thursday nights with  the return of Sullivan's Crossing , and a new series Joan.  Joan is a British crime drama and has six episodes, so the the CW will need something to fill the rest of the fall.  The final season of  Superman& Lois will air on Thursdays along with new series , The Librarians: The Next Chapter.

The CW Sunday Night Movie, will also be a continuing feature.   The CW does have two scripted shows waiting in the wings  Good Cop/Bad Cop and Sherlock's Daughter .

ABC Fall TV Look 2023 Upfronts

For mid season,  La Brea will be back, which was moved from starting in regular season to being a mid season replacement show. The drama was renewed for  6-episode season. Magnum P.I which NBC saved from cancelation, will have its 2nd half of its 5th season in midseason.

FALL TV 2023: CBS

CBS  Fall TV Look 2023 Upfronts

Earlier than normal, CBS has released their fall line up for the 2023-24 TV Season. Now, due to the writers' strike this is the CBS best hope that things get resolved very soon  schedule for the fall so this could not even happen if things are delayed.

Anyway, CBS' fall line up looks much like it did before, as CBS usually does keep their line ups stable.  Wednesday has been made all reality again, but with long running shows "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race" taking up 90 minute slots to fill a 3 hour night.

CBS has two new dramas for the fall, first "Elsbeth" which is also CBS continuing the world of "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight" this series will air on Thursday Nights. "CSI Vegas" is being moved to Sundays, but because of Football overruns they've decided to hold the show until after football being mostly over.

No you aren't confused by the next show's name, yes they have decided to remake "Matlock"  with Kathy Bates in the lead role.  They will be pairing this with "The Equalizer" which moves up to 9PM /8c.

"S.W.A.T" was a show that CBS was going to end, but some last-minute deal making has kept it alive for a final season and they've ended "East New York" instead, so Friday Night stays the same from last season.

Mondays stay the same with "The Neighborhood" , "Bob Hearts Abishola" , "NCIS", and "NCIS Hawai'i".  Tuesdays are still the Dick Wolf shows with "FBI" , "FBI: International" , and "FBI: Most Wanted" and Fridays, as mentioned above will also still have "Fire Country" and "Blue Bloods"

Much like last year, you'll notice CBS isn't introducing a new comedy to their wings and still keeping Thursday with "Young Sheldon" and "Ghosts".  They do have new comedy series picked up, "Poppa's House" starting Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.  which is waiting for a mid season slot to open up.  CBS has the Superbowl and new drama "Tracker" gets the post SB slot on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Again, this line up is if the writers' strike comes to a deal on a good time to start working on series.  CBS could end up filling their line up with reality shows, reruns (some shows from Paramount Plus), Primetime game shows.

Here's the schedule all times ET/PT, unless otherwise specified. New series highlighted in blue

FALL TV 2022: CBS

CBS TVLookFall2022  Upfronts

CBS' fall line ups are not normally radically changed, and the structures have been mostly the same. This up coming season, there as has been a slight change to Thursday. For many years CBS had devoted 2 hours of comedy on Thursday ,especially after cutting the amount of comedy on Monday nights, but this season CBS has given the 9pm ET hour to a drama that being a new drama called So Help Me Todd . As two Chuck Lorre comedies have been canned, which is also interesting for CBS.  The cutting of comedies also seems to be a theme at networks as well.  Fire Country, a new drama, takes the Magnum P.I slot on Friday.

Wednesday is full reality show now, with CSI: Vegas moving to Thursday nights. The Real Love Boat  joins  Survivor and The Amazing Race. Sunday Nights have a new drama as well, with East New York taking up the post Equalizer slot.  NCIS: Los Angles moves down.

They have set up True Lies, a drama based off the film, for midseason.  Along with a few alternative series making their way to midseason as well. So far, it seems, CBS hasn't picked up a new comedy series.

There's not much other changes, otherwise CBS has a stable programming slate. Ghosts moves up to 8:30pm after Young Sheldon on Thursday Nights; the FBI shows still have Tuesdays and there's still 2 NCIS series on the line up.

Here's the line up all times ET/PT (unless otherwise noted) new series are highlighted in blue

Fall TV 2022: ABC

ABC  TVLookFall2022  Upfronts

Football! Well sometimes. ABC is not going back to the full glory of having Monday Night Football on the network as most of the games will still be on ESPN, so ABC will still have some programs on a Monday night. What you won't be seeing is Dancing with the Stars which has moved to Disney Plus, at least for now. NBC TVLookFall2022  Upfronts

NBC has decided to make Friday Night their comedy, an interesting move, for the one of the traditionally lower rated nights of network TV.  NBC schedule is not a big difference from previous years like The Voice is on Monday and Tuesday Nights, Chicago shows on Wednesday, Law & Order shows on Thursday Nights.  The revival of Quantum Leap gets a Monday post- The Voice airing, while La Brea and New Amsterdam get post Voice Tuesdays.

From November, comedies take the 8PMET which includes "Young Rock" and a new series "Lopez vs. Lopez" .  The rest of NBC's comedies are waiting in the wings most likely for mid-season.  "The Blacklist" is also waiting in the wings.

For those who don't watch network shows on networks, NBC programming is moving from Hulu to Peacock next day streaming.

Fall TV 2021: The CW

The CW TvLookFall2021  Upfronts

The CW has released their fall schedule. A big thing to note is that this year they are expanding  into Saturday Night, in exchange the are giving that hour of daytime (a relic from the old KIDS WB days) to their affiliates.  It's predecessor networks the WB (whom the original schedule of the network was based from)  and UPN left Saturday nights to it's affiliates. This is curious since Saturday is usually a "dead" night on network TV.

The network is making moves for it's shows as well.  "Riverdale" is moving from it's long time Wednesday night slot.  Sunday will not have scripted shows instead they 'll have"Legends of hte Hidden Temple" (yes you read that right)  and "Killer Camp".    The fall line is filled mostly with familiarity.  There will only be one new scripted series that's a remake of "4400".

In midseason,  "All American: Homecoming"  and "Naomi" are the new series making their premieres.   Midseason will also have the returns of "Charmed" , "DC's Stargirl" , "Dynasty" , "In the Dark" , "Kung Fu" , "Roswell, New Mexico" , "Superman and Lois".
