Some of the plot lines in Peanuts is love. It's a common theme that pops up alot. Either Charlie Brown fawning for "The Little Red-Haired Girl", Peppermint Patty and Marcie both crushing on Charlie Brown, Sally with Linus, Lucy with Schroeder. This special does something a little different with Charlie Brown but still keeping him normal. This is "Someday You'll find her, Charlie Brown" a special that originally aired on October 30th, 1981.
Charlie Brown seeks love. So Charlie Brown is watching football with Linus , not in the direct sense, because Linus is reading a book. Charlie Brown sees a pretty girl that makes him pine for her now. (Love at first sight?) The main plot for this special is Charlie Brown going out and seeking her. (Like a stalker?) (Also was this football game a USFL game or something because it's spring as heck outside) Charlie Brown lets his obsession with the girl drive him. Linus is mostly drafted into this nonsense. (Also Charlie Brown says his lucky number is 13)

It's subtle but it comes together later. Charlie Brown makes Linus do stuff for him, this will bite him in the back later. Anyway, they go check the downtown records to see who the girl was. (dang so easy to get information on people) I mean it was really easy to get people's phone numbers and addresses. (the heck) The people behind the information were glad that some random kids got their info too wow!.(My last last bit of injecting modernism into this post) Charlie Brown makes Linus go the first house (yes there's more than one). Linus does tell CB that maybe he should go up and it himself, but CB says no he can't because of his nervousness. (Tap tap) The first girl is not the pretty one that Charlie Brown said he saw, which is kind of mean Chuck.

Charlie Brown continues his quest and Linus says he'll be done if the next girl isn't the right one. (Linus is right) The next girl is what Linus called a terrible sounding girl (well then) and they take a bus to her house. CB has Linus do the same thing again where, he has Linus go to the house. She also has a raspy voice. (That's how she became the Nanny) She also seems to be older than them, way older.
Funny story, she's actually 50 / Copyright Peanuts
Charlie Brown almost quits but Linus tells him there's a girl who lives at a farm. (She died?) At happy Valley Farm, we get a Snoppy and Woodstock gag. The cat from "Race for Your Life,Charlie Brown" is back. The third girl is the right one, I'm saying that right now. Remember that thing that I mentioned before? (Better have been paying attention, there's a quiz at the end) Charlie Brown's problem with not being proactive and trying to meet the girl himself , cost him dearly. Linus meets the girl and he falls for her, himself. He also finds out that she has a security blanket too. (fabrics of love) He goes inside the house with her.
Whoa we are blanket users/ Copyright Peanuts
Now we have hours of Charlie Brown being desperate for hours. Eventually, Linus comes out and ignores everything Charlie Brown says. Also her name is Mary Jo. Then a sad song plays with Charlie Brown. (Random) Linus spends more time with Mary Jo, the next day, and Charlie Brown ends up reading about losing love.
If Charlie Brown had gone up to the door, himself, maybe he would have a had chance ,but it seemed the girl was destined for Linus. The hint that Charlie Brown's own Charlie Browniness would end it this way is rather genius. So, does Charlie Brown get the girl? I don't know, probably not because Peanuts rules.
This is a fairly good Peanuts special, the 80's have more hit and miss specials compared the 70's. I think the plot was interesting if not a little weird. Snoopy and Woodstock's scenes don't
eat up as filler in this special as much as they can sometimes. It does a good job of taking a basic plot and filling it's time wisely.
There is a charm to the story of Charlie Brown really just going out and falling in love with a random girl he sees on TV. He's a hopeless romantic, but then his own self-consciousness causes him to not be able to actually comfort the girl. Linus is shown mostly his loyalty to Charlie , but does falter at the end by his own distraction. That doesn't make him a bad friend, in my own thought.
It is an alright, Peanuts special, and I think it deserves to be checked out. That does it for us this time, tune in next time, when we sue Mary Jo over her mean bobcat scratching us.
