Review of the Media on the Iowa Caucus

Media  Choice2012
  By Joshuaonline Staff

CNN
CNN seems to pride themselves on their election coverage . This year , the network  moved it's election coverage from New York to it's Atlanta HQ.  It also added a bunch more graphics and gadgets to it's use age. Using heavy hitter anchors, Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer ,John King and their "Best Political team on TV" CNN made their election coverage interesting.
Goods:  CNN kept the coverage fair and kept going through out the night waiting for every vote to be counted.  Its setup was great overall.
Bads: CNN did use too many things, even though the GCI "Weebles" seem like a good idea it's just something for mockery. The "Flex " touch screens maybe a bit much and twitter is good but trying to use it in coverage may be too much.

Iowa Caucus Media Preview

Media
   By Skyler and Joshuaonline staff
Today is the Iowa Caucus , the Republicans are working on finding their next nominee for the presidential race. We take  a preview and ask questions about what will be seeing and covering on Joshuaonline.
        1. The Network Coverage. The Networks (NBC,ABC,CBS,and FOX) won't be covering the Caucasus in real time , leaving the winner announcement to local newscasts , though ABC NEWS will do some during 'Nightline' as well.
       2. Current TV versus MSNBC  . Current TV is a cable channel run by former Vice-President Al Gore , the channel has been evolving into news and opinion , calling themselves a progressive source, or more targeted to  liberal viewers. MSNBC primetime also has been doing the same. Tonight both channels will have Caucus coverage using liberal hosts we will want to know how the two channels covered it if any difference in that.
       3. FOX NEWS ,CNN,CNBC,FOX BIZ  They will be having full coverage tonight  of the Caucus with less  of a spin compared to MSNBC and Current.
        4. The media post spin Elections on TV always need to fill that extra time and the way done is using analysts   to spin what happened and why.  Plus in  a caucus which is different than a primary  , the polls that have been coming out have been playing with the media. That is what they use to take a measure and sometimes they are wrong, we will see if that happens, how they take it.

We will be doing more media looking during the Caucus tonight at 7PMET on Joshuaonline

Cable News in 2011 review

2011 cable news TV
The year 2011 is now heading out the door   , we take a look back at what the cable news media was like this year.
Over Coverage of  Casey Anthony   Not, saying that we think the media shouldn't have covered it  in  heavy excess. HLN (Formally Headline news until 2008) , a CNN sister network, had extensive trail coverage during the trail and coverage of the trail itself. It was LIVE brodacasting on weekends , when they never do it on a normal weekend ,  no matter what breaking news happens. Some could say it was do to the slow news time of summer , but there is a way the cable news channels could have covered it.

Lean Left and Lean Right  Cable news is slowly loosing the news part of the term. MSNBC (owned by NBC NEWS) suffered a small blow to it's line up when Keith Olbermann left , but since 2008  the channel was adding more and more liberal opinion , they say is a counter to a Conservative FOXNEWS Channel . Though unlike FOX NEWS Channel , MSNBC has more opinion programming , as of December 2011  on weekdays they have a total of  6 hours of news with out opinion , though 2 of those hours are more devoted to politics FOX NEWS Channel's primetime stayed at number one, and MSNBC faulting but still taking second. This hurt CNN who trying to stay out of the left /right show thing.
2012 elections are sure to bring more of this out , and opinion shows aren't leaving because people are watching them. Some network executives have said that people aren't turning to cable news for news anymore, they already know the news.
