Our Favorite Top 10 Christmas/Holiday specials

Christmas
By Sarah F Aa nd Skyler M for mychiller
Finally, it's Christmas time  so  we can take a look at our top 10 favorite movies/ and tv specials for Christmas. First, off there are so many that could go in our list it was a hard process but we went with our collective favorites as you will see. These are also in no special order.

1. The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold
This one may not be remembered by many off hand unless they see it, it was made back in  1981  it's  classic Rankin and Bass stop motion. It's about a sailor who digs up a tree and an old sea hag (that's the term people!)  who is evil comes to life again , She wants the leprechaun's gold  before Christmas.  It has aired on TV repeating alot , though it has been cut back on , but we say it's a really good special , it's also one where there's not really Santa.

2. A charlie Brown Christmas
To be more correct , all of them , all counts as a favorite, first "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is  where Charlie Brown was tired of the commercialization of Christmas , this is in the 60's mind you.  He gets a skimpy tree instead of a flashy one ,and Linus tell us the what meaning of Christmas is.   "I want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown"  Has Linus and Lucy's little brother Rerun, really wants a dog and Snoopy's brother, Spike comes over from the dessert  he a very skinny dog with a cactus friend.

3. A year without a Santa Claus
What would happen if Santa Claus took a year off?  Santa Claus wasn't feeling well so he decides to take a year off since nobody cares about Christmas anymore. This is the specail with the heat miser and the cold miser songs.  Which are just great.

more after the jump

 4. The Grinch who stole Christmas
We mean the 1960's special not the movie with real people in costume, which is just wrong. It maybe 30 minutes but we learn that  no matter what the grinch did that Christmas is in your heart .  It's fun to see and also hear the word Roast beast.

5. 'Tis the Night Before Christmas
It takes the classic poem and made into special , with a mouse telling the story of how his son told Santa he was a fake, which Santa didn't like. So now the town has to make a clock to make sure Santa visits.

6. The Flintstones Christmas Carol
Skyler : This is my favorite rendition of "A Christmas Carol" Fred plays Scrooge he is also at the same time in trouble with his wife, daughter and friends because he got way to focused on his part in the play. Plus it's one of few specials where Bam-Bam said more than Bam Bam , that's not counting "Pebbels and Bam Bam show"

7. Home Alone
It's the funniest , most memorable set of Holiday films.

8. Santa Claus is coming to town
We found out how Santa Claus became Santa. Also makes people question a man's sanity who bans toys because he slipped on one.

9 Miracle on 34th Street (Both of them)
Santa Claus comes to NewYork for some reason right before Christmas , both have some drunk Santa being replaced by the real one. There's a girl that believes not in Santa . Santa goes to court to question his sanity.

plus the 1994 remake is one of few remakes we know of that keeps the points of an original movie.

10 A Christmas Story
We say this is our most favorite , it's funny its memorable and classic.

Now there are so many movies and specials we could add to this list but we would also be here for a very long time, bu you can tell us what your favorites are by commenting below.
