Get TV to add classic series

Classics 


    Classic movies TV network, GET TV, will be adding classic TV shows to it's line up as well as still airing classic movies.   The programming will be divided  by blocks of  Comedy, Westerns, and Action/Crime.  Airing weekdays  from 7AMET to 8PMET.   This begins May 2nd.

getTV UNVEILS A NEW WEEKDAY PROGRAMMING LINEUP OF CLASSIC SERIES, ANCHORED BY RARE CRIME FAVORITES HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICKRIPTIDE, AND THE EQUALIZER, STARTING MAY 2
The Roster Features 14 Classic Series at Launch, Divided into Three Blocks of Rare Comedies, Westerns, and Action/Crime Dramas Other Highlights Include James Stewart in THE JIMMY STEWART SHOW; Robert Urich in Aaron Spelling's S.W.A.T.; and Early TV Appearances byKurt Russell, George Clooney & Jodie Foster 
CULVER CITY, CA – April 18, 2016 – Fueled by the positive response to its programming blocks celebrating rare classic television series, getTV has launched an all-new weekday schedule focusing on hard-to-find favorites. The lineup includes 14 television series to start, with more to be added throughout the cycle. The new schedule is divided into three distinct blocks—ComediesWesterns, and Action/Crime—airing weekdays from 7 a.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET, beginning May 2. In a special kick-off event, getTV will present the two-hour premiere of the 1984 series RIPTIDE, starring Perry King, Joe Penny, and Thom Bray, as part of the network’s Silver Screen Favorites block on Sunday, May 1, at 8 p.m. ET.
 
Highlights of the daytime programming lineup include charming long lost comedies THE GHOST & MRS. MUIR and NANNY AND THE PROFESSOR; the Old West epic THE RESTLESS GUN, which makes its getTV debut after having rarely been seen on television since its original run; and a wall-to-wall afternoon block of rarely seen, but beloved crime favorites featuring the Aaron Spelling standout S.W.A.T; Ernest Borgnine and Jan-Michael Vincent in AIRWOLFRIPTIDE and HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK, created by award-winning crime author and TV producer Stephen J. Cannell; a special 30th Anniversary year presentation of THE EQUALIZER, which spawned the hit 2014 Denzel Washington thriller of the same name, and its upcoming 2017 sequel.  The daytime series block concludes with back-to-back episodes of the gripping police drama IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, starring Carroll O’Connor, based off 1967's OscarÒ-winning Sidney Poitier/Rod Steiger movie of the same name.

Comedy Block7 a.m. ET—THE THIN MAN (1957-1959)—Peter Lawford and Phyllis Kirk star as married sleuths Nick and Nora Charles, solving crimes and getting wrapped up in shady schemes in this spin-off of the 1934 Pre-Code comedy of the same name. Guests include Frank SinatraBob HopeDon RicklesMarion Ross, and more.


7:35 a.m. ET—THE JIMMY STEWART SHOW (1971-1972)—Beloved leading man James Stewart makes his television debut, as a small town professor in this charming family comedy that also stars Julie Adams and John McGiver. Notable guests include Vincent PriceRegis PhilbinKate JacksonM. Emmett Walsh, and Cesar Romero.
 
8:15 a.m. ET—NANNY AND THE PROFESSOR (1970-1971)—Juliet Mills stars as a magical young nanny who may or may not be psychic, with Richard Long as her widowed professor of an employer and top contemporary reality and tabloid star Kim Richards in her breakthrough role as one of Long's three kids. Notable guests include Jodie Foster in her third TV appearance, as well as Elsa LanchesterIda Lupino, Lee Meriwether, and Van Johnson.

8:50 a.m. ET—THE GHOST & MRS. MUIR (1968-1970)—Hope Lange won two EmmyÒ Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy as a widow who befriends the spirit of a sea captain (Edward Mulhare) haunting her New England home. Notable supporting cast includes game show stalwart Charles Nelson Reilly in his most significant acting role, and notable guests include Richard DreyfussDanny BonaduceDom DeLuiseYvonne Craig, and more.
 
 Westerns Block9:30 a.m. ET—A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH (1965-1966)—the recently deceased Robert Horton stars in this Western drama as a man who wakes up with no memory after being brutally attacked. Searching for clues, he travels through the desert, facing off against violent criminals and doling out Old West justice. Guests include Claude AkinsEd AsnerBruce DernMartin Landau, and Cloris Leachman.

10:05 a.m. ET—THE RESTLESS GUN (1957-1959)—Saddle up with John Payne as nomadic gunslinger Vint Bonner, in this Civil War series that has rarely been seen since its original run. Special guests include James CoburnRobert BlakeRip TornShirley KnightMichael LandonVic MorrowJohn CarradineAngie Dickinson, and Stuart Randall*THE RESTLESS GUN airs Monday-Thursday in this time period. 
10:45 a.m. ET—LAREDO (1965-1967)—Neville BrandPeter Brown, and William Smith star in this action-comedy following a group of Texas Rangers as they scheme, fight, and ride, under the gaze of their captain, Philip Carey. Guests include Kurt RussellLee Van CleefBurgess MeredithBruce DernJohn CarradinePeter GravesSeymour Cassel, and DeForest Kelley. *LAREDO airs Monday-Thursday in this time period.    Action/Crime Block12 p.m. ET—TOUR OF DUTY (1987-1990)—Terence Knox and Tony Becker star as members of a platoon battling the Viet Cong, society, and each other in this gritty award-winning Vietnam War drama featuring guest appearances by Angela BassettVing Rhames,Michael MadsenKyle ChandlerLee Majors, and Carl Weathers. *TOUR OF DUTY airs Monday-Thursday in this time period. 
1 p.m. ET – S.W.A.T. (1975-1976) – Legendary duo Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg present this tense police adventure, starring Steve ForrestRod Perry, and Robert Urich as members of an elite Special Weapons and Tactics team tasked with keeping the streets safe from dangerous criminals. Although the original series lasted less than two seasons, it spawned a Billboard #1 chart hit with its memorable Barry De Vorzon-composed theme song, and ultimately led to a successful 2003 action movie of the same name starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell. The drama features guest appearances by Sal Mineo, Rose Marie, Susan Dey, Phil Silvers, James Darren, Loni Anderson, and Farrah Fawcett.
  
2 p.m. ET—AIRWOLF (1984-1986)—Take to the skies with Jan-Michael Vincent as the pilot of a high-tech helicopter, searching for his lost brother and embarking on deadly missions for the mysterious Firm, with the help of engineer Ernest BorgnineAIRWOLF was created by acclaimed showrunner Donald Bellisario, of MAGNUM P.I.JAG, and NCIS fame. Guest stars include Bryan Cranston, Shannen DohertyRay WiseClu Gulager, and G. Gordon Liddy.

3 p.m. ET—RIPTIDE (1984-1986)—A trio of military buddies-turned-detectives (Perry KingJoe Penny, and Thom Bray) cruise around California cracking the toughest cases, in this 1984 action hour featuring early appearances by Geena Davis and George Clooney, as well as Lance HenriksenKelly Preston, and Christopher McDonaldRIPTIDE was created by crime TV legend Stephen J. Cannell, who also produced HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK. In a special kick-off event, getTV will present the series’ two-hour premiere, as part of the network’s Silver Screen Favorites block on Sunday, May 1, at 8 p.m. ET.  
  
4 p.m. ET—HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK (1983-1986)—Brian Keith and Daniel Hugh Kelly form an unlikely bond, as a retired judge teams up with the last man he convicted to investigate a series of cold cases. Guest appearances include Rosemary Clooney, Tim RobbinsTerry Bradshaw, Jonathan BanksCameron Mitchell, and Buddy Ebsen.

5 p.m. ET—THE EQUALIZER (1985-1989) 30TH Anniversary Event—getTV celebrates 30 years of THE EQUALIZER, starring Edward Woodward as a private detective with a mysterious past, who uses his skills to deliver vigilante justice for his innocent clients. The series was the basis for the 2014 Denzel Washington thriller of the same name, and features an unforgettable theme and score by The Police founder Stewart Copeland. The impressive guest list includes Robert MitchumKevin Spacey, Vincent D’OnofrioLaurence FishburnePatricia ClarksonJohn GoodmanChristian SlaterMeatLoafSteve BuscemiWilliam H. 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET—IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1988-1995)—Each day wraps up with back-to-back episodes of this acclaimed NAACP Image Award-winning drama starring, starring EmmyÒ Award winner Carroll O’Connor as a no-nonsense police chief working to keep criminals off the streets amidst the racial tensions of the deep South. Alan AutryHoward E. Rollins Jr., Anne Marie Johnson, Hugh O'Connor and Denise Nicholas also star, with guest appearances by George C.
